Medvedev closer to decision on second term

Nine months ahead of presidential elections in Russia neither President Dmitry Medvedev nor his predecessor – and now prime minister -Vladimir Putin, have declared that they will enter the contest. Their apparent indecision and the uncertainty is it is arousing amongst Russians and the business community are beginning to have a real impact. But Mr Medvedev calls for patience. In an exclusive interview with the Financial Times in St Petersburg the president tells Neil Buckley that he wants another term although he hasn’t yet decided whether he will actually run. He adds that he and Mr Putin would not run against each other and an answer on candidacy will come before long, he says.
