Downgrades don't matter to investors

Dec 6, 2011 : The latest bearish datapoint is the threatened downgrade by Standard & Poor’s of the credit ratings of most of the eurozone – and Germany itself, until recently seen as a haven from the storm. The question investors face is whether the downgrades really matter. Japan provides a useful lesson, and suggests the answer is a fairly resounding no.
