Politics complicates debt woes

The downgrade threat to the US credit rating by Standard & Poor's is a political move to force a solution to cutting the country's deficit, says Keith Wade, chief economist and strategist at Schroders. He tells the FT's Seb Morton-Clark that despite the risks, he's confident that the US will retain its triple-A rating.
