Regulator to fine US banks over house backlog

Apr 25, 2011 : John Walsh is the chief executive of the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and one of the top bank regulators in the US. He tells the FT's Tom Braithwaite that some banks will pay fines for shoddy paperwork that has led to a backlog of foreclosures nationwide. Mr Walsh says the state attorneys general are also pursuing foreclosure-abuse settlements.
