Who cares about Mifid?

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive or Mifid, which has spawned a host of market structure changes such as equity market fragmentation and growth of "dark pools", is a huge topic for institutional investors. But Damian Stansfield, managing director of Halifax Share Dealing, says neither Mifid nor its sequel Mifid 2 are known to most retail investors, let alone considered in their share transactions.
