Hollande's balancing act

France needs "projects, solidarity and growth”, says the new French president François Hollande as he prepares to meet Angela Merkel for the first time. Hugh Carnegy, Paris bureau chief, says Mr Hollande has some room for manoeuvre but he won't be taken seriously in Berlin unless he tackles the debt issue.
