UK plans on Nigeria's illegal oil attacked

July 15: Dr Dele Cole, a politician from Rivers State and former Nigerian presidential adviser, says only political will and development cash will end the massive theft of oil from Nigeria's Delta region and the insurrection driving it. As western politicians grow concerned about the oil price impact, Dr Cole tells William Wallis, FT Africa editor, that UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown's plans for military support to Nigeria to stop the illegal sale of oil are misguided. Dele Cole is a businessman, founding member of the ruling PDP party and was a special adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 and 2001.
